At Plan A Consultants we are busy preparing our business plan for ‘YR 3’ – the plans, projections and aspirations for our third year. For both service lines, we aim to be the automatic choice and the first consultant that Architects and Designers think of when in need of Design Management and Health and Safety services.
When we are asked to present CPD seminars to architectural practices, one of our key messages is that Design Management is a core activity of a Lead Designer's role for every sector and every size of project. It is not something that can be dealt with on a ‘take it or leave it’ approach.
Project Managers and Contractors have stepped into this space and we are passionate about assisting Architects and Designers in reclaiming their position. As well as the CPD presentations, we are busy carrying out different activities to support Architects and Designers. Central to our aspiration is helping guide the next generation of architects towards understanding their responsibilities and ultimately how this will benefit them.
Over the past 12 months, we have given lectures and presentations to students at various institutions including the Architectural Association and University of Reading. Over the couple of months, we have further sessions planned at Loughborough and Bath Universities.
The sharing of our knowledge with the next generation and our commitment towards personal learning and development were important factors in our recent shortlisting for Consultant of the Year (less than 100 people) for the 2017 Building Awards and we will continue to support young architects and designers in carrying out their role.
